वंसत में फिजा में चारों और खुशियां फैली होती है। कुदरत किसी नवयौवना सी इठलाती मुस्कुराती बरबस ही सबका ध्यान अपनी और खींच लेती है। हवाएं अजीब सी मादकता लिए होती है तो खेतों में सरसों सोने सा खिलने लगता है। चहुंओर आनंद ही आनंद होता है तो इस मौसम में पीले रंग की भी अपनी ही अहमियत होती है। वसंत के मौसम में फिजा में पीला रंग भी घुला रहता है। ज्ञान की देवी सरस्वती के वस्त्रों के रंगों के प्रतीक के तौर पर इस रंग का काफी महत्व होता है। वसंत को बीते दो माह हो चुके है और फिलहाल चैत्र की तपिश सबको झुलसा रही है। बावजूद इसके आइपीएल की फिजा में वसंत के मौसम की तरह कुलांचे भरता जोश नजर आ रहा है। वसंत की तरह जोश और खुशियां है तो वसंत के ही रंग यानि पीले रंग के परिधान वाली टीम चेन्नई सुपर किंग्स करिश्मा कर रही है। धर्मशाला की ठंडक ने इस टीम को झुलसने से बचाते हुए खिलने का मौका दिया। अब यह टीम दूसरों को चैत्र की तपिश से झुलसा रही है।
चेन्नई सुपर किंग्स का सबसे बडा शिकार बनी गत विजेता डेक्कन चार्जर्स की टीम। लगातार पांच मुकाबले जीतने के बाद ही डेक्कन की टीम सेमीफायनल में जगह बना पाई थी। टीम के फार्म को देखते हुए इस मुकाबले में डेक्कन के जीत का दावा सबसे मजबूत नजर आ रहा था। 143 रनों का लक्ष्य भी कोई बडा नहीं था। कप्तान गिलक्रिस्ट अब तक टीम लीडर और विकेटकीपिंग के मामले में अव्वल साबित हुए है। टीम को केवल उनके बल्ले से रन उगलने की दरकार थी। सेमीफायनल में भी गिलक्रिस्ट का बल्ला खामोश रहा। सुमन, सायमंडस, गिब्स और रोहित शर्मा भी ज्यादा समय तक विकेट पर रह नहीं सके। डेक्कन की टीम सेमीफायनल तक पहुंच भले ही गई थी लेकिन इसमें समय समय पर खिलाडियों के व्यक्तिगत प्रदर्शन का ज्यादा योगदान रहा बनिस्बत टीम के आलराउंड प्रदर्शन का। सेमीफायनल में टीम एकजुट होकर प्रदर्शन करने में नाकाम रही। डेक्कन की हार से आईपीएल की थाली से टेस्ट ऑफ हैदराबादी की महक अब नहीं आएगी।

वन डे क्रिकेट के शुरूआती दौर में क्रिकेट का यह फार्मेट स्पिनरों के लिए शामत ही साबित हुआ है। स्पिनरों को बल्लेबाजों ने जमकर निशाना बनाया। स्पिनरों की गेंदों पर चौके छक्कों की बरसात भी खूब हुई। पहले पन्द्रह ओवरों में जब केवल दो फील्डर ही तीस गज की रेखा के बाहर रहते थे उस दौरान गेंद सौंपने के विकल्प के बारे में सोचा भी नहीं जाता था। न्यूजीलैंड के भारतीय मूल के स्पिनर दीपक पटेल पहली बार चमकती गेंद से पहला ओवर फेंकते हुए नजर आए। इसके बाद स्पिनरों ने धीरे धीरे पूरी दुनिया में कप्तानों का विश्वास जीता और अब कुछ ऐसी ही रवायत टी20 मुकाबले में भी देखने को मिल रही है। आर अश्विन को चौथी बार धोनी ने पहला ओवर फेंकने का मौका दिया। सेमीफायनल जैसे अहम मुकाबले में भी अश्चिन ने कसावट भरी गेंदबाजी की और विरोधी टीम को चैन की सांस लेने नही दी। अश्विन की कसावट का नतीजा यह रहा कि डेक्कन शुरूआत से ही दबाव में आ गया। एक ऐसा मुकाबल जो वह आसानी से जीत सकता था पावर प्ले खत्म होते होते गत विजेता की उम्मीदें भी धुंधला गई।बालिंगर की कसावट भरी गेंदबाजी के साथ एक के बाद एक विकेट लेने के साथ साथ अश्विन ने शुरूआत से ही डेक्कन के बल्लेबाजों को आजादी से खेलने नहीं दिया। डेक्कन के लिए शुरूआत में ही यह दोहरा आघात साबित हुआ।
